Permanent Tenancy

But if my life is for rent and I don't learn to buy
Then I deserve nothing more than I get
Cause nothing I have is truly mine
{Dido - Life For Rent}

Kathryn and I decided to go out for dinner after work one day as we had to work late. We headed to the nearest small street where lots of restaurants line up and sat on the sofa chair in the Korean place that we randomly picked. The waiters don't speak English and we don't speak Korean so all the ordering happened from pointing the pictures from the menu. They brought up the side dishes, but our conversation started when they brought up the raspberry wine which Kathryn ordered because there's no other choice of wine. And we talked about life, about work, about death - and our opinion on religion. I said that the only thing that is certain in this world is death. You know it will happen someday to you - to the people you love, to the people you know and you don't know. And she, as an advocate of living for the moment, agreed that nothing is permanent. "I don't even own my own feelings," she said, "Tomorrow they will change." I've never thought about feelings like that before but what she said kinda makes sense.

  1. First of all, I love that song by Dido!!!
    And your friend is an absolute genius for saying " I don't even own my own feelings".
    I have been trying to live for the moment lately and my emotions always gets the best of me but this is a game changer.

  2. "I don't even own my own feelings" 🔮🙏

  3. This is a really, really good reminder. Also, this dinner sounds really lovely too! Talk about living in the moment, eh!?

  4. For some reason, it kinda makes me feel better thinking that you never really own your feelings. Thanks for sharing!
