Things That Make 90s Kids Excited

The other day Xiyan and I went to a bookstore at the downtown complex. The building complex itself is one of the old infrastructures that still stand in the middle of the city centre. It's located nearby one of the art college, so the feeling is very student-friendly kind of thing. I always feel nostalgic whenever I come here. I always think 'This is how it feels to be a student' whenever I pass the lines of printing and binding shops. The bookstore that we went to has 3 storeys. I love entering the store from the 3rd floor as it welcomes you with racks of CDs! I remember the time when CDs were still in. This place reminds me of the things that make me excited when I was younger.
Books and old bookstores. They still make me excited until now. Disty and I used to spent hours and hours, going from one place to another in the search of books back when were still in university. We would walk from one end of the town to the other. On more than one occasions we even drenched soaked in the rain in the pursuit of our book collections.

CD. My dad used to collect audiophile CD. He's a snob when it comes to music. So it's only natural that I started collecting my own. It's crazy to think that kids nowadays might not have any idea what is CD, cassette or walkman!

Colouring books and crayons/ colouring pencils/ watercolour. It used to be a hobby. Not just something that kindergarten kids do to pass the time.

In line skate. It was the thing when I was in like 4th grade. I remember begging my dad to buy me one if I can get into top 3 in my class. And I got them. Mine was black and my dad also bought me this cool green helmet that my older cousin loved so much he wore it when he drove his motorbike.

Tamagotchi. Every kid should have one.

Shaped eraser. Because you buy snacks not just because of the snacks. But because you're excited to get little present inside.

Sticker books. Because collecting shaped eraser wasn't enough.

Polly Pockets. It felt like magic back then.

Faber Castle 2B pencil. Because it's the best. And your best friends during exams week.

Of course, there were other things from the 90s that bring so much memory. From what I can remember that was the first time I saw the ad for McDonald's ice cone on tv. My cousins and I were crazy about MacGyver and Renegade, that my cousin even named his rooster and hen Lorenzo Lamas and Kathleen Kinmont.
I might be biased, but sometimes I do think the 90s are the best.
