The Shifting Of The Year

It was somewhere in Vietnam last year when the year shifted as the moon walked into June. This year, it's in a place further than that. Where the steppe, the sand dunes, and the snowy mountain are all in one place. I always feel of April like your 24. It's just the right age of your early twenties. June feels like 27 and 28 altogether. You're more sure about life and everything else but allowed to be unsure at the same time - to take the risk and to be as adventurous as you'd like to be. Flowers bloom and the weather gets more humid than usual with a hint of raindrops every here and there. When I came back, there's a night market that will be held for a month in my neighborhood. I thought about this theory that I read in a book somewhere, long time ago, as I walked pass by - about how places and spaces are in a constant motion. They've never been the same from a minute ago even though it doesn't feel like it.

Some happy birthday wishes videos were received. Cakes and confetti were cut and popped in the office one day. Coffee treats, hugs, cards, flowers as presents for a whole week in its' best intention and form. Night outs, countless brunches, and lunches, and texts from friends near and far (hi Beate!) - and my heart is full. On Wednesday night I went out for dinner with some friends and I laughing crying the whole time. We went for a walk on Thursday under the rain. Friday night to Saturday we were hibernating. This Sunday I spent a good amount of time catching up with one of my closest friends who just got back from China over brunch. We shared stories about work, about life and whatnot. As we look out of the bougainvillea leaves dancing outside the window, the grey clouds marching, passers-by walking and flashes of our lives in the past month, we knew the year is shifting, the season is changing and so have we.

  1. What a great way to celebrate birthday, happy birthday to you! If your bday was on 9 June, you share the same day as my Mom's. Anyway, always enjoy reading your post :)

  2. Places & spaces in constant motion, I love it 🔮🙏
