A Solitary Nook

I found an almost-emptiness in this place. It hides behind the weekends. Behind the old shophouses and the sound of the birds that you can't see. Behind the closed glass-doors of coffee shops and the empty stalls at the hawker center. Somehow, the lined-up parking cars feel more like a desolation with the colorful background of their surroundings. There's a humid weather among the empty swings at the public park. The benches are lonely and the trees frictions are peaceful. Like they're invisible in the middle of passing cars. We walked around pretending to be a tourist. Looking for nooks and crannies, creaks and aisles. Listening to the noise of the construction, looking for any unheard sound of familiarity and faded memory. There were some good times we spent here many moons ago. Most of those times, the sun was already set, the night was long, and the street was crowded. Now, we walked down that gallery walk in the stillness of one weekend and no familiar face, and that's okay.

  2. This place looks really peaceful, especially since no one is around! I like the roofs.
